Chinley to Edale Reverse

The advantage of factoring Chinley into your Edale hike is that it allows you to avoid the Edale crowds and still take in all the majesty of the Vale of Edale. Our advice is to hop off at Chinley, meet at the station or The Old Hall Inn depending on the time of day and end it at The Penny Pot in Edale before catching a train home. If you do it in reverse The Old Hall Inn offers an award winning afternoon or evening meal and has ample outside seating space in the Summer.

Hope to Edale Reverse Route 1

Hope to Edale is a great one for those fed up with the limited parking in Edale as there’s plenty of places to leave your car if you choose to drive into The Hope Valley. It’s also got two great routes taking in different sights so you get to keep things interesting each time you visit. For those that travel by train it’s also a perfect starting point as Hope has superb options for stocking up before and after you hit the hills.

Western Valley Circular

One of our favourite half day rambles because you can turn it into whatever you want it to be. It’s also quite easy on the legs as there isn’t much incline and what there is could be considered gentle. Take your swimmers if you fancy a dip and pack a picnic to make it a full day out in the hills.

The Horseshoe

This is a well trodden path and probably the easiest route up to the top of Kinder Scout. We don’t class it as particularly hard because it isn’t particularly long but bear in mind it does involve around 45-75 minutes of ascent.
